Vaibhav Gupta from Kanpur won a million hearts with his melodious voice, and the Indian Idol Season 14 trophy with prize money of 25 lakh rupees and a Maruti Suzuki Breeza car. The grand finale that aired on Sunday had six other finalists, but it was the ‘Kanpur Ka Tarana’ who left the judges stunned with his energy-filled performance.
From the auditions to the grand finale, it had been a long journey for the finalists. ‘Kolkata ki Awaaz’ Shubhadeep Das Chowdhury and ‘Jaipur ka Sur Samrat’ Piyush Panwar were the first and the second runner-ups of the show, respectively. They were also honoured with a bestowed trophy and 5 Lakh rupees each, while ‘Kolkata ki Shaan’ Ananya Pal was recognized as the third runner-up and awarded prize money of 3 Lakh rupees.
The other two finalists – ‘Bengaluru ki Muskaan’ Anjana Padmanabhan and ‘Faridabad ki Dhadkan’ Adya Mishra also spared no efforts to spread the magic of their voices.
What the Kanpur Boy had to say
The 19-year-old expressed his gratitude towards the platform and said that he was grateful for all the achievements he has had till now. He added that winning Indian idol is like a dream come true and that he has taken the first step on the ladder, but there is a long way to go.
Furthermore, about his journey on the show, he adds, “When I came on the show, I wasn’t at my best. I would get a lower score. However, rather than feeling dejected, I decided to work harder on my skills and mental strength. I knew there were too many people looking at my journey back home, and I did not want to disappoint them.” Under the mentorship of the judges panel that included Shreya Ghoshal, Vishal Dadlani, and Kumar Sanu, Gupta says that being on the show was no less than a roller coaster ride for him, and it was his dream to become an Indian Idol someday.
Future Plans of the Indian Idol winner
As the Singing reality show ended, Vaibhav expressed his wish to make independent music and enter Bollywood.
Moreover, expressing his desire to playback singing for Salman Khan he adds, “I want to do playback singing for Vicky Kaushal and Ranveer Singh now. I will try my best that this happen someday. I want to bring back live music, the symphony kinds. The 90s feel is now coming back. People are listening to Kishore Da again, and this generation is focusing more on the melody. It is a very good era of music, and I want to present a new wave in it.”
When asked how he would want to utilise the prize money, he said he would make some brilliant compositions, one of which will be titled ‘Udaan’ to explain his journey and everyone else’s journey towards their achievement and would also build a dream studio.
