Seventeen out of 20 American doctors who were stuck in Gaza after Israel shut the border from Rafah to Egypt have safely departed to the enclave, National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said on Friday
“They’re out, There were 20 American doctors, 17 are out now, came out today. And all of 17, they wanted to, they wanted to leave, I won’t speak for the other three, but just, I can assure you that any of them wanted to leave out now” Kirby Said

US Embassy’s significant role
The Americans who made their way out from Jerusalem, with the support of the US Embassy stated the State Department.
The three doctors who stayed back in Gaza did that because they understood the situation and also the fact that the US embassy cannot facilitate their departure in the same way, their Family source said.
The Embassy team travelled to Kerem Shalom and crossed the border to receive the doctors, without providing the details of how the doctors reached the border crossing, added the source.
One of the doctors who stayed back in Gaza is Dr Adam Hamawy, who helped save Sen. Hamawy stayed back because he travelled to Gaza with the Palestine American Medical Association and did not feel right while leaving without the other doctors, CNN reported.

Safety Concerns for Aid Workers in Gaza
Many of them are trying to work hard on the current situation including Duckworth, a member of Congress who is in touch with Biden continuity to push them, so that there are more aid and humanitarian workers in Gaza, and to get protection for the workers.
The top USAID official said that Israel was not doing enough work to ensure the safety of AIDS workers.
Sonali Karde the assistant of the administrator of the USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assitance said that the de-confliction measures are not where they give the complexity of the environment. As these conversations are going on they need to continue and they need to make the workers feel safe and secure so that they can operate safely in a positive environment, but she doesn’t think we are there yet.
