On June 9, Sunday, the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi with his Council of Ministers, will be held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi. This event is scheduled to start at 7.15 PM. Modi’s swearing-in ceremony will be followed by a Banquet hosted by President Droupadi Murmu in Rashtrapati Bhawan, on the same evening.
India’s steadfast commitment to ‘Neighbourhood First’ and ‘SAGAR’ vision, is reflected in the invitation to the regional leaders. The Heads of the States of Sri Lanka, Maldives Bangladesh, Mauritius, Nepal, and Bhutan have already accepted the invites.

Leaders converging in for the swearing-in ceremony
President of Srilanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe congratulated Narendra Modi on the electoral victory of BJP-led NDA, over a phone call, accepting his invitation to join the swearing-in ceremony.
As per the official statement by the Ministry Of External Affairs, the following regional leaders will grace the swearing-in ceremony:
- President of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe;
- President of Maldives, Mohamed Muizzu;
- Vice-President of Seychelles, Ahmed Afif;
- Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina;
- Prime Minister of Mauritius, Pravind Kumar Jugnauth;
- Prime Minister of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’;
- Prime Minister of Bhutan, Tshering Tobgay

Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu accepted the invitation
Despite strained ties between India and Maldives, after the elections of November 2023, President Mohamed Muizzu agreed to attend the swearing-in ceremony graciously. The Maldives, seen as pro-China, asked the Indian Government to withdraw its military protection from the island.
Over 9000 guests are expected to grace the ceremony
Due to the upcoming G7 meeting in Italy, the guest list has been composed compactly. Over 9000 guests are expected to grace the ceremony alongside the regional leaders.
Delhi on High Security Protocol
The National Capital Of Delhi will be on high alert as SAARC dignitaries fly in. Three layered security has been deployed both inside and outside the Rashtrapati Bhawan, ensuring all the safety protocols for the smooth execution of the event. To ensure tight security paramilitary personnel, NSG commandos, snipers, drones will be deployed in and around Rashtrapati Bhawan during the event. SWAT Team of Delhi Police shall also be on full alert and cover the VVIP zone.
