On Monday, the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the results of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) retest held on June 23, for 1563 candidates. This retest was conducted on June 23, to combat the multiple controversies regarding the grace marks awarded to the students.
The revised ranks of all the candidates who appeared for the June 23 retest were also released in the public notice on June 30. The notice also stated the information regarding the revised scorecards of all the NEET UG 2024 exam students and the 1563 students to be displayed on the official website.
NEET UG Examination 2024 under Question
The NEET UG examination on May 5, 2024, was conducted by the NTA at 4,750 centres in 571 cities in the country, alongside 14 cities abroad, with 23 lakh candidates appearing for the examination.
On June 4th, the result was declared with a massive hue and cry regarding the 67 students achieving the perfect score of 720, which was possible only with unfair means.

NTA accepted to scrap Grace Marks
After a lot of probing and allegations, it was reported that ‘Grace marks’ were provided to some students. The Supreme Court scrapped the grace marks practice rendering two alternative options. The affected students could either re-take the examination or retain their original score without the grace marks.
Certain “isolated incidents” occurred in a few states during the conduct of the NEET (UG) 2024 examination, which was held on May 5, and was reported by the FIR.

CBI in Action in Paper leak Matter
A high-level seven-member committee, headed by former ISRO chairman Dr K Radhakrishnan was formed to supervise the conduct of free and fair examination.
The case was then shifted to the CBI when the criminal case was registered against the irregularities. On June 23, incidents of paper leaks were discovered in Bihar. On June 27, two accused were arrested by the CBI in Jharkhand.
