The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported that an earthquake of 5.6 magnitude hit Mindanao, Philippines, on Saturday.

The earthquake was 10 kilometers (6 miles) deep, according to the GFZ.

The Philippine seismology agency reported a different reading, stating that it was a magnitude 5.9 earthquake with a depth of 27 km (16.8 miles). The agency also mentioned in a bulletin that no damage was expected, but there could be aftershocks.

Additionally, rescue operations for dozens of missing individuals in an earlier landslide in Maco town, located in the southern Philippines province of Davao de Oro, had to be halted due to the earthquake, according to authorities.

The death toll from the landslide, which occurred on Tuesday night outside a gold mining site, has risen to 28. Additionally, 77 individuals are still reported missing, while 32 others have been injured. Among the injured is a 3-year-old girl who was rescued on Friday after being trapped under rubble for 60 hours.
