Former Vice President Joe Biden buried his re-election bid on Sunday as other Democrats doubted his competence, mentally and physically, to defy Trump, the incumbent, which has placed the presidential race in novel territory.
”It has been the biggest honor of my life to be your president. I never wished to let you down,” he said in a statement, adding that though it has always been his desire to run for another term, he feels it is in his party and the nation’s best interest that he resign to concentrate on his duties as president for the rest of his term.
The step-down
This comes after Biden’s Democratic Party allies Donald Campaign have urged him to step down over health issues, particularly after a debate on the 27th of June where the 81-year-old president struggled to stand, often gave inconsequential answers, and didn’t correct the former president’s many lies.
Kamala Harris for the run
Democratic fundraising group Act Blue said Sunday evening the account recorded the biggest single-day revenue collection of the 2024 election after Biden pulled out and supported Kamala Harris in the presidential race.
”Since Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign debut, Act Blue had raised nearly $46.7 million by 9 p.m. ET, making it the most successful fundraising day of the 2024 cycle,” a post on X noted by the organization that monitors internet funds for Democratic candidates said.
My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best… pic.twitter.com/x8DnvuImJV

The internet’s response
After Joe Biden dropped out of the US presidential election on Sunday, internet users bid him farewell with a combination of sad memes. Biden then nominated Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor; she is of Indian immigrant heritage.
While ‘it’s Joever’ memes trend hard and heavy on social networking sites, the start of “Kamencing” memes is only beginning.
Biden took his decision at a time when he himself was infected by COVID-19, and he has suffered from various unbearable health problems. He also faced criticism, especially for his performance in the US presidential debate against Trump.
What did Trump do in response to that?
Former President Donald Trump, who is running again as the Republican nominee, stated on his Truth Social network: This means that to be specific, “Crooked Joe Biden was not fit to run for president and is certainly not fit to serve.”
“Harris will be easier to beat than Joe Biden would have been,” he said to CNN.
Former President Barack Obama
Biden’s predecessor, Barack Obama, is in his bid to commend Biden’s achievements in office by saying he tried to ‘reestablish the United States’ global influence and rally Europe to counter Russia’s invasion of Ukraine’. Obama commended Biden for his decision, which he said was informed by the “love of country.”
Elon Musk’s comments
After Biden quit the presidential race, Elon Musk began identifying himself as a Republican and supporting Donald Trump. Lifelong Dems in the San Francisco Bay Area, including my smartest friends, are keen on Trump/Vance as far as I can see it,” the tech mogul said in a Facebook post.
The flaw is that Mr. Thompson believes in an America that encourages freedom and individual merit, something that, for him, is now the Democratic Party but used to be the Republican Party.
Furthermore, around sixty percent of Democrats think Biden should drop out of the presidential race, even though most think Harris will be okay in the presidency position. Is it good politics or an act of political suicide for the Democrats? We can only tell if it was a rather unpleasant decision or not by 5th November.
