Retail activity has been blooming in India recently, and consumers want more and more, especially in the fashion, skincare, and makeup industries. Due to an increase in such businesses, many are investing and building their own businesses in the Indian market. Big business groups such as Reliance and Aditya Birla have been launching partnerships with foreign high-end brands, which is helping brands to open flagship stores in different capital cities in India. Make-up and skincare brands have been launching in India, and many are celebrity-owned and are partnering with Tira Beauty and Nykaa for e-commerce distribution.

Chanel in India

Chanel entered India back in 2005 and made its mark among the many luxury brands entering the market. Chanel now has entered the e-commerce segment and is live in India. Consumers will still have to purchase in-store apparel, accessories, and shoes, as the basis of Chanel’s online offering is fragrance, beauty, and eyewear, just as it is in other regions such as the UAE and UK.

Chanel will now be able to cover 27,000 postcodes in India, allowing the luxury brand to serve the entire subcontinent, a difficult task in such a big country with few premium retail complexes and high streets. Chanel has already witnessed pre-launch interest in Kolkata, Pune, and the southern states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala.

Kylie Cosmetics by Kylie Jenner

Kylie Cosmetics needs no introduction in today’s make-up world. Kylie Jenner, the founder, had started this brand back when she was only 18 years old and now has turned it into one of the most successful businesses and made it a multi-million brand. After the longest wait, Kylie Cosmetics touched down in India via Sephora. Kylie Cosmetics’ global success can be ascribed to Jenner’s entrepreneurial skills and her influence over teenage beauty enthusiasts. In case you needed a reminder, the Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits sold out in under a minute. There’s no arguing that the cosmetics industry is oversaturated; nonetheless, Kylie Cosmetics has managed to withstand it all.

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna

The global icon Rihanna’s makeup and skincare brand Fenty Beauty has finally made its debut in India. This was again a much-awaited launch that had been eagerly waited for by make-up enthusiasts. The launch of Fenty was declared by Nykaa on their website and is now live.

Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez

Rare beauty has been a manifestation come true to the consumers in India. The pop artist-owned brand has a very big value in the make-up community and has finally been launched after much anticipation. The products are available online on Tira Beauty, Sephora India, and Nykaa.

Global make-up and skin care launches

As the craze is growing, many consumers are shifting to buying branded and expensive products from international brands in India. Luxury cosmetic brands such as Elizabeth Arden, Estee Lauder, Florence by Mills, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Laneige, Huda Beauty, and Kayali by Mona Kattan are now all available in the Indian market and are present online and in walk-in stores.

This market’s development in India has been largely due to innovation and technological advances. After most services were digitalized, it is now easier than ever for consumers to purchase products online, allowing businesses to avoid opening as many shopfronts and instead partner with e-commerce companies. It is becoming typical for celebrities to market their own brands, which adds value to brands. Because of these elements, India has become a sustainable market that only generates good business for companies, resulting in increased investment and exposure in India.
