Google has unveiled a substantial upgrade to its AI-driven chatbot, previously named Bard but now rebranded as Gemini. Alongside this rebranding, Google has introduced a new subscription service called Gemini Advanced, which provides advanced reasoning capabilities powered by the Gemini artificial intelligence.

Google Introduces AI Subscription Service: Ultra 1.0

Available for $19.99 per month for US users, subscribers will have access to the upgraded Ultra 1.0 AI model, along with two terabytes of cloud storage, a feature previously valued at $9.99 per month. Furthermore, subscribers can anticipate the integration of Gemini into Gmail and Google’s productivity suite in the near future.

Google’s entry into the AI subscription market places it in direct competition with Microsoft and its partner OpenAI, who have recently unveiled a comparable subscription offering for AI in their programs. Priced at $20 per month in the US, Microsoft’s offering adds to the growing competition in this field. Product Lead Jack Krawczyk highlights that Google’s subscription service is designed to offer users the most advanced generative AI technology. This technology enables the creation of new content on demand and can handle queries even when answers are not readily available online.

Gemini Integration: Enhancing User Experience Across Google Services

The integration of Gemini into Google’s suite of services, including cloud storage and Gmail, aims to streamline users’ workflows by offering a comprehensive solution for AI-driven tasks.

Gemini will seamlessly integrate into Android devices, allowing users to access it through various methods such as voice activation or the app interface. Product Lead Jack Krawczyk highlights the accessibility for Android users, positioning Gemini as a convenient digital assistant for everyday tasks.

The rollout of Gemini Advanced will commence in the US, with plans for international expansion, additional language support, and a two-month subscription trial for users.

With the rebranding of Bard to Gemini, Google underscores its advancement in AI technology and dedication to providing advanced AI solutions to its user base. Gemini’s integration into Google’s ecosystem signifies a significant step in the company’s mission to make AI more accessible and valuable to consumers worldwide.

The proposed entity has its fair share of challenges ahead of it. The Indian media market is constantly changing, and the new entity will have to adapt accordingly. Besides that, it also faces stringent competition from other media giants like Netflix and Sony, which recently cancelled its own ambitious merger with Zee.
