G7 Summit: Modi and Kushida discussed the 5 trillion yen, Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project 

Synopsis : PM Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Japanese PM Fumio Kishida on the sidelines of the G7 summit, in Apulia, Italy. They discussed strengthening their business, government, and people ties, investing in landmark projects, and promoting cultural linkages.

The G7 summit witnessed the bilateral meeting of PM Narendra Modi with Japanese PM Fumio Kishida on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Apiulia. They discussed the landmark Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project worth 5 trillion yen investment in India. 

“PM Modi thanked Japanese PM Kishida for the congratulatory wishes extended on assuming office for the third consecutive term. He affirmed that bilateral ties with Japan will continue to receive priority in his third term.”

Special Strategic and Global Partnership

India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership marked its 10th year in 2024. Both PM Modi and PM Fumio Kishida expressed gratitude and satisfaction at the progressing relationship.

They discussed the various strategic sectors, strengthening the “B2B, P2P and G2G relations and avenues of trade opportunities”. Strengthening business and government relations and boosting investment was the dominant topic of the bilateral meeting. 

They also reviewed the ‘India-Japan Industrial Competitiveness Partnership’, aimed at transforming manufacturing cooperation. This meeting served as the best opportunity to review the ongoing projects and future investments.

Strong & secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific

PM Modi expressed delight on meeting Japanese PM  Kishida on the sideline of the G7 summit in Italy. He believes, that this strong India-japan relationship will render a strong, secure, and peaceful Indo-Pacific region. 

Both nations look forward to working together in “defense, technology, semiconductors, clean energy, and digital technology”. And also invest in boosting their cultural linkages.  Further discussions on the same will be continued in the next India-Japan annual summit.
