According to a person with knowledge of the event, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal got married to Grecia Munoz, a model turned entrepreneur. The person said, refusing to give their identity, that their wedding was over a month ago.
Who is Grecia Munoz and Deepinder Goyal?
Munoz, a Mexican-born model by trade, is currently focused on her luxury consumer goods firm. She resides in Delhi at the moment. Apart from being a model, Ms. Munoz has also been a television host. In 2022, she was victorious in the Metropolitan Fashion Week. According to reports, Ms Munoz has reportedly stopped modelling and is now focusing on her own luxury consumer goods company. With postcards from France, the US, India, and Mexico adorning her social media timelines, it also appears that she travels extensively.
While Munoz is a model, the very famous Zomato, a meal delivery app with its headquarters in Gurugram, was founded and is run by 41-year-old Deepinder Goyal. In 2008, he launched the business from his flat under the name Foodiebay. After that, Zomato grew to become a huge food delivery company with operations in more than 1,000 Indian locales.
According to Koimoi, Deepinder Goyal’s success with Zomato contributed to his INR 2,570 crore net worth in 2024. A Financial Express story states that Goyal earned more than INR 3 crore in 2020 and that he owns a 5.5% share in Zomato. However, it dropped to INR 1.96 crore in 2021, at which point he decided to forgo receiving pay for the following three years. He gave the Zomato Foundation INR 387 crore in ESOP shares in 2022 to support the welfare of the company’s delivery partners.
Deepinder Goyal recently joined Shark Tank India as an investor and his presence can be witnessed often as he encourages entrepreneurs and has funded various start-ups in the past.
The buzz around the wedding
According to reports, Deepinder Goyal and Grecia Munoz returned from their honeymoon in February. Munoz states that she was born in Mexico and is currently “at home in India” on her Instagram bio.
Goyal is married for the second time. He first got married to Kanchan Joshi, an IIT-Delhi student he met. Munoz has previously revealed teases from her “Dilli Darshan” in January.
Munoz posted pictures of herself touring some of the well-known sights of the nation’s capital, including the Red Fort, to Instagram with the caption, “Glimpses of my new life at my new home.”
However, Zomato faced criticism when it revealed that it was launching a fleet of delivery executives that were “pure veg” earlier this week. These executives would wear green uniforms instead of the company’s signature red and only carry vegetarian cuisine. After facing severe backlash on social media, Goyal gave up on the green dress code, acknowledging that their delivery executives’ safety could be in danger due to on-ground segregation.
