Amarnath Yatra pilgrims from Punjab faced a horrific incident. The bus from Amarnath to Hoshiarpur carrying 40 pilgrims suffered brake failure and lost control on National Highway 44 in Ramban district, on Tuesday.
The pilgrims were from Punjab, returning to Hoshiarpur, in Punjab from Amarnath. They reported that the brake failure was first realized when the driver failed to stop at Nachlana near Banihal. The army personnel and Police officials reached the site on time and swiftly prevented any major mishap from happening.
Army / J&K Policy – Primary Responder
Jammu Kashmir Police and Indian Army reached the location and their quick response prevented the bus from falling into the gorge. Around ten people were injured, but no casualty was reported.
Six men, three women, and one child were hurt in the incident. The video flashing on social media depicts several people trying to climb out through the windows. Seeing this situation, the security personnel acted swiftly, preventing the bus from plunging into the gorge.

Rescue & Medical Assistance
First aid and medical assistance were provided to the passengers by the army personnel and Jammu Kashmir police. The jarring visuals from social media show officials preventing the bus from falling into the gorge. Army’s quick reaction teams along with ambulances reached the location and provided medical assistance to all the injured people.

Similar accident in may, killed 22 people
A similar incident happened in May, where the bus fell in the gorge killing 22 people and injuring 50. Over 80 pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, were boarded on the bus which headed to the famous Shiv Khori temple in Raesi district.
The bus lost control, skidded off the Jammu-Poonch highway, and fell into the gorge in Jammu’s Akhnoor claiming as many as 22 lives.
