The launch of Phase 1 of the Lucknow Airport Terminal (T3), promises a surge in employment opportunities and a commitment to sustainability, as mentioned by Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone

He further stated that the project would directly and indirectly employ a whopping 13,000 individuals. Speaking at the launch event, Karan Adani, further outlined the grand vision, asserting that upon completion of the master plan, the terminal would be a source of livelihood for an estimated 40,000 to 50,000 individuals.

T3 will be run on green energy

Arun Bansal, CEO of Adani Airports, highlighted the airport’s eco-friendly approach, emphasising its reliance on green energy. “Our focus is on digitisation,” Bansal stated during the event, underscoring the integration of DigiYatra and Self Baggage drop initiatives from the outset to streamline the passenger experience. “We aim to transform the usual airport apprehension into excitement,” he mentioned. Bansal also stressed their commitment to sustainability, revealing ongoing collaborations with airlines to promote the use of sustainable aviation fuel.

The Integrated T3 of the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA) in Lucknow was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 10th, marking a significant milestone. With a budget of INR 2,400 Cr, the terminal is equipped to handle 4,000 passengers during peak hours and will cater to both domestic and international flights.

T3 to accommodate 8 million passengers annually

According to Adani Airport Holdings, the initial phase of T3 aims to accommodate 8 million passengers annually, with plans to ramp up this capacity to 13 million passengers per annum in the second phase. Looking ahead, Adani projected a substantial expansion to accommodate 38 million passengers annually upon completion of the master plan in 2047-48.

“This exponential growth is pivotal to our strategy in bolstering Uttar Pradesh’s quest to achieve a one-trillion-dollar economy,” Adani emphasised. “Beyond just erecting infrastructure, we are fostering over 13,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, thereby significantly contributing to the economic progress of the region and the state,” he added.

Highlighting T3’s features, it boasts 72 check-in counters, including 17 designated for self-baggage drop, along with 62 immigration counters facilitating seamless travel. Presently, the terminal connects 24 domestic and 8 international destinations, amplifying connectivity for travellers.

Besides that, it also faces stringent competition from other media giants like Netflix and Sony, which recently cancelled its own ambitious merger with Zee.
