President Murmu and PM Narendra Modi extended their “Greetings on Eid-ul-Adha” to the nation, on 17th June. ‘The festival of sacrifice’, Bakra Eid is celebrated on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic or lunar calendar. marking the end of the annual Hajj pilgrimage this festival symbolizes joy and peace.

President Murmu called for unity and betterment of the society
President Murmu, took to her social media to greet the nation on the occasion of Eid-uz-Adha, specially mentioning the Muslim brothers and sisters of India and abroad. Emphasizing the values of joy and sacrifice, she said,
“This festival of sacrifice and renunciation gives us the message of sharing our happiness with everyone, especially with the needy. On this occasion, let us all take a pledge to work together for the benefit of all countrymen, especially the people of the underprivileged sections.”

Celebrations started in full swing across the country
Celebrations on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha have begun in full swing, across the country. The historic Jama Masjid flooded with devotees, all gathered to bring in the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.
Srinagar witnessed devotees gathering at a Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Sonwar to offer their prayers. Mubarak Khan Shaheed Mazaar in Gorakhpur, UP, and Mumbai’s Makhdoom Ali Mahimi mosque in Mahimsaw had a large turnout of worshippers.
