Netflix is to get rid of Windows 11 and Windows 10 apps and might replace them with a progressive web app. The upcoming Windows app will get improved video streaming quality and offer access to live events.
The existing version of Windows 11 and Windows 10 allows users to download their shows up to full HD, a new support document on the website says “Download will no longer be supported, but one can continue to watch TV shows and movies offline on supported mobile devices”.

Drop in price for Windows users
The updated Netflix app for Windows will now support the ad-supported tier, which will allow the users to watch content on the platform at much lower price compared to the standard price and it may include commercial breaks in between the TV shows and movies. As of now the Netflix Windows app does not support the ad-supported plan and shows a message that says “ Your plan does not support streaming on the device”.
The ad-supported tier is not available in India, soon that will be implemented in the upcoming feature, the users may have to shift to their Mobiles and tablets to watch uninterrupted TV shows and movies.

However, Netflix has not mentioned anything clearly, but the new app will be available for download. Netflix says users who have enabled automatic updates for the Microsoft Store will automatically install the new version once it is available for download.
